Overview of PCA9539APW

The PCA9539APW is an 16-bit I2C-bus and SMBus I/O expander with an internal interrupt function. It provides general-purpose remote I/O expansion for most microcontroller families via the I2C-bus interface. The device features two hardware address pins, allowing up to four devices to be connected on the same bus. Each I/O can be configured as an input or output port. The system master can invert the input data, which allows the PCA9539APW to be used with push-pull or open-drain output. The interrupt output can be used to indicate that at least one input state differs from its corresponding input port register. The open-drain interrupt output can be wire-ORed with other devices.
